Dinner for Two

"Alex" attend Community Kitchen's Tummy Tamers program on a regular basis.  Always eager to learn about and teach the other children the food groups, one would have never guessed that Alex ever went hungry. At a recent Tummy Tamer session, Community Kitchen volunteers gave each child a sandwich.  A volunteer noticed Alex placing his sandwich in his bag while the other children ate their sandwiches.  The volunteer approached him and asked, "Aren't you going to eat your sandwich?" His response was heart wrenching.  He quietly said, "No, I am going to take it home first to see if my mom needs it because she is pregnant."  The volunteer offered Alex a second sandwich, which he gladly received.  Tummy Tamers staff say, "Looking at this boy one would never have guessed he went hungry."
